Galaxy® AuroraThe Galaxy® Aurora 24 bay RAID and SAN appliance is the highest performance product in the Galaxy line. Capable of sustained speeds in excess of 2300MB/s in a RAID 6, Aurora is ideal for demanding Film environments. Aurora’s unique set of features are unlike any other product on the market today; increasing in performance with each CPU, interface and hard drive advancement. Aurora‘s latest advanced features include major improvements to improve overall performance and connect up to 8 fibre clients with out the need of a switch. Enhancements have been added such as graphs showing RAID usage, datarate charts can be viewed per host/user, and internal pre-emptive failure information is gathered on each RAID disk drive. |

Designed around the latest technology, Galaxy Aurora's 2300MB/S+ speed is coupled with eight 8Gbit FC ports and 40Gbit Infiniband interface options, 16GB of RAM upgradeable to 128GB, and a SAS backplane supporting RAID Edition SAS 15K RPM and 7200 RPM high capacity drives. Aurora supports Windows, OSX, Linux and Solaris platforms and is backwards compatible to 2Gbit and 4Gbit Fibre Channel. The RAID’s EOS engine cuts your ongoing operating costs and maximizes uptime by maintaining peak performance during rebuild so you can continue working. EOS completes the RAID rebuild up to 6 times faster than other RAID products.
The Aurora’s unprecedented set of management tools allows you to manage your SAN environment easier and optimize performance. Just a sample of these tools are:
- Real Time Initiator (RTI) is a quality of service performance tuning feature. RTI allows you to prioritize I/O bandwidth to specific client stations
- The LUN Identification Tool (LUN ID) improves overall SAN management for administrators by giving them the ability to assign meaningful names to complicated World Wide Names (WWN) on fibre host ports.
- Client LUN Management (CLM) allows admin to assign a single writer with multiple readers without additional SAN management tools.
- Tools for tracing I/O commands, graphing real-time bandwidth, and uncovering poorly performing drives in the RAID
