A Complimentary Workflow Solution: Strawberry and StorNext
Traditionally, editors using AVID software like Media Composer and Interplay have relied on AVID ISIS and Unity storage for centralized, fast storage pool. Strawberry provides a collaborative workflow that enables multiple AVID editors to share projects and bins securely. It combines with already installed StorNext or Xsan or HyperFS software to provide a centralized storage solution for AVID editors.

Rorke Data enables Avid users to enjoy a SAN-based workflow, complete with secure file, media and bin sharing on either pre-existing StorNext/Xsan SANs or moving forward with a new HyperFS SAN. We are seeing many film scanner/color correction users already using StorNext, and wanting to integrate Avid editors. Rorke Data can do this without ISIS.
Low-cost Rorke Data Galaxy ADA DICOM Archive Appliance Delivers Long-life Storage Solution for Hospitals, Clinics, and Imaging Centers; to be Unveiled at RSNA at GE Healthcare Booth #3335
RSNA 2011 – CHICAGO – McCormick Center – Nov. 28, 2011 – Rorke Data, an Avnet Company (NYSE: AVT), today announced that GE Healthcare’s Accessories Group has selected the Rorke Data Galaxy ADA DICOM appliance to provide a low-cost archive solution for hospitals, clinics and imaging facilities. The Galaxy archive solution from Rorke Data is a network attached storage (NAS) system that combines fault-tolerant RAID technology with Panasonic’s Advanced Disc for Archive™ (ADA) drive and encased Blu-ray Disc™ media to deliver long-life, high-capacity removable storage for HIPAA compliant file archiving. The solution will be unveiled at GE Healthcare’s exhibition booth #3335 during RSNA, Nov. 27 – Dec. 2, 2011, in Chicago.
“Magneto Optical (MO) drives are no longer being manufactured, and we needed to find an alternative removable media storage solution for our customers,” said Rob Schaefer, accessories global product manager at GE Healthcare. “Rorke Data’s ADA-based archive appliance reflects an innovation in storage management for the healthcare industry. For customers currently using MO technology, this appliance offers an easy transition to a new solution. The Galaxy integrates the benefits of both hard disks and removable Blu-ray media delivering a cost-effective archival solution.”
The features of Rorke Data’s Galaxy ADA DICOM appliance include:
“Current users of the discontinued magneto-optical discs will find that ADA media provides a tremendous increase in disc capacity at lower per gigabyte cost through the use of the widely supported Blu-ray Disc format,” said Robin Sweeten, group manager, strategic marketing, Panasonic Industrial Company. “Imaging department staff are already familiar with cartridge-based optical media and we are pleased to bring this greatly enhanced archival storage solution to GE Healthcare customers via the Rorke Data Galaxy solution.”
“The Galaxy ADA DICOM appliance is a robust yet cost-effective archive solution that allows any size healthcare provider to protect and manage patient image data. The system is simple to use and operate, and installs in less than one hour, requiring little or no IT resources, depending on the facility,” said Joe Swanson, group executive vice president, general manager sales and marketing at Rorke Data. “We are proud to partner with GE Healthcare in the effort to bring low-cost, high-quality storage solutions to the expanding medical diagnostic imaging market.”
The Rorke Galaxy ADA DICOM appliance and Panasonic Advanced ADA Media are available through GE Healthcare Accessories and Supplies.
